Sudan faces significant domestic and international constraints and large macroeconomic imbalances despite efforts made toward macroeconomic stability and growth. Institutional reforms over the last few years strengthened tax collections and public financial management. The IMF’s staff report for the 2016 Article IV Consultation urged the authorities to accelerate policy consolidation and reforms to achieve macroeconomic stability, address vulnerabilities, and promote inclusive growth. In this context, METAC supports the authorities’ efforts to strengthen the financial sector, advance reforms in public financial management, foster tax and customs administration, and improve the national account statistics.
