METAC banking supervision assistance to the Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA) is part of comprehensive IMF support to restructure the PMA. METAC has focused on strengthening the PMA’s capacity to supervise financial institutions. METAC is financing IMF technical assistance in payment systems, bank restructuring, and central bank organization.

METAC participated in the IMF headquarters customs administration mission that identified reforms in the context of Israel’s disengagement from Gaza. Further technical assistance is planned by the IMF in this area.

METAC plans to provide assistance in national accounts to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS). It also plans to assess the quality of the balance of payments statistics produced jointly by the PMA and PCBS, and to provide follow-up technical assistance and training in the identified areas.
